Volume IV January 2004                                                  From Charles Wilhelm

Happy New Year!

Another year come and gone.  Amazing isn't it?  I must say though, I can look back and say that 2003 was a truly wonderful year thanks to the many clients and friends we have been so lucky to have as a part of our lives.

We've been keeping busy as always, though managing to have a very good time in the process.  In December I did the second "Babies" clinic of the year, weanlings to two years olds.  It's always so fun to work with the youngsters.  And just before that Ann and I were at Equine Affair in Massachusetts.  Otherwise we are getting ready for a couple of January shows.  I will be at the Horse World Expo in Maryland and then will also be appearing as a featured clinician at Equine Affair in Pomona in a few weeks, so if you are attending, make sure to stop by the booth and say hello. Both should be great shows.

If you have not seen the 2004 event calendar yet, we also have some exciting new clinics coming up at the ranch this year.  The information is outlined at the bottom for you.

One of these is a very cool new 5 day workshop that I am doing with Donna Snyder-Smith.  Called "Team Up with the Best", Donna and I work with just 6 students all week, each taking half a day to cover our respective areas of expertise.  Not surprisingly, we have found there is a wonderful match between my foundation training exercises and Donna's biomechanics of riding work.  We are doing three of those clinics this year as they fill quickly.

I am also doing the first 5 day Colt-Starting clinic at the ranch!  We expect the limited space to also fill up, so if you know anyone with a youngster that they may want to start this summer, have them contact Karen sooner rather than later.

Otherwise we are repeating some of the favorites: De-spooking & Crossing Obstacles in February, the Women's Horse Camp was a huge success and we will do that 5 day program again in July, and then also the Emotional Control clinic in September.  There will be some others throughout the year but the topics have have not been selected yet.  If there is a clinic you would like to see me do, send an email and let me know!

Other than that, Spring is approaching so I hope you are starting a work plan to get your horse mentally, physically and emotionally ready for the active riding season.  I do want to remind you to please stay in touch throughout this New Year.  I really enjoy hearing how you are doing and just let me know if you have anything I can help you with!

Ann and I wish you the best best health and happiness in 2004 and beyond.
